DJ Gunner -a Firm Favourite at Chilly Bear

. . No comments:

DJ Gunner is another crowd puller here at Chilly Bear and one we're glad to have as part of the Chilly family. You can catch him rocking the place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (check the Calendar for more details), but until then find out what makes Gunner tick.

1/ How long have you been a DJ in SL?

This is my second tour of duty as an sl Dj. My 1st time I Dj'd for 4 years, and now I've been doing it for about 6 months

2/ What made you decide to work as a DJ in SL?

I have a huge love of music covering most genres. No matter where you go in the world no matter what language, Music is universal, just like sl. So i can think of no better way to spread the joy of music then Dj here in sl.

3/ What makes working at Chilly Bear so enjoyable for you?

I get to meet some fantastic people from all over the world. everyone has a good time and interacts well with each other.

4/ Do you work at any other clubs in SL and if so how do they compare with working at Chilly Bear?

I do work at another club where they specialize in one genre of music. we do play a little more then that type but basically stay in that genre. At the chilly bear, every Dj pays something different So you can get a large variety of different music genres..

5/ What are the most rewarding aspects of working at Chilly Bear?

The first one is being able to share the gift of music with people, then getting to meet and chat with people from all over the world. It has truly helped me in getting a real feel for what goes on elsewhere.

6/ Are there any challenges you have needed to overcome?

I guess the main one and this probably goes for all Dj's, is to find that place to play where the music you specialize in as loved. Once you find that place, all other challenges seem very small.

7/ What was the first single you bought and why?

LOL, the first single i remember was Boots Randolph, a song called yakkety sax. Most people know it as the finishing song from the TV Show Benny Hill. I started taking piano and sax lessons when i was 6 yrs old, I loved the sound of the sax the most so that why i got that single, and still today I play my sax, plus can now play all the other woodwinds. That single gave me the desire to play music and appreciate the work that goes into making music. BTW, back then they didn't use computers to make music.

8/ What was the first album you bought and why?

The first album was The Beatles Help album. As a child because of my parents I listened to a lot of old country artists like Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, George Jones, etc. The Beatles were a new sound and style, the way they combined the guitar stylings and the lyrics just amazed me. It was different, and made me feel good listening to them. Since then I've collected there entire set including early german releases.

9/ What song has the most meaningful lyrics for you and why?

WOW, this is a tough one. How about I give you three, lol. 3 Dog Night's Shambala - a real feel good song for when your feeling a little down, mentally beat up. When i got a little older it would be Stealin by Uriah Heep. Young and invinceable, able to cheat the devil and enjoy life. And a tie for 3rd, that came with the birth of my son, Blood Sweat n Tears God bless the child, and John Denver's song, For Bobbie. If you have children, just listen to them and you will know.

10/ What genres of music do you prefer to play or dance to at Chilly Bear?

Mostly classic rock and southern fried rock, But I also enjoy playing the oldies from the 50's and early 60s. Dancing, You cant go wrong with the slow stuff ,like Chicago,

11/ Who has had the greatest influence in shaping your taste in music?

LOL, another 2 part one here, 1st off the private music teacher i had when i became a teen, he opened my ears to many styles of music which helped take my own playing to the next level. 2nd, and i probably shouldnt say it but here you go. Listen to Foreigners song Starrider after you smoked a joint, lol. enough said.

12/ what was the best live band/musical performance in RL you attended and why was it so good?

OMG your being brutal, lol. In total i have seen 78 different bands in concert. yes, i still have the ticket stubs to prove it, lol. I'd have to say the very best was the Styx, Kilroy was here tour. Followed closely by Pink Floyd's The Wall tour. both were more then concerts, they were shows featuring costumes stage sets and the works. As far as just a fantastic jam. George Thorogood. He knows how to get you off your seat and rockin it.

13/ Are there any RL bands/ performers you would like to see live but haven't?

I'd have to say John Mellancamp. I did have front row seats to a concert of his, but the car broke down on the way to the show. never did get another chance to see him.

14/ Are there any RL disbanded bands/ performers you regret not getting around to seeing live?

2 of them, Led Zepplin, possibly the greatest rock band ever,,,they could play anything. 2nd would be the original Lynyrd Skynyrd.

15/ Can you name one video you would like added to the blog ?

The song is called coming home, Its about the troops currently deployed coming back home. Its done by Dave Adams formerly of journey and the Tubes, A beautifull song and video, which does bring a few tears to my eyes.

Time to hand out tissues because here's that vid.
